Equine BaseLine www.equinebaseline.com, All Others/General, Sport Horses,
After shoeing horses for over 25 years, I have noticed one thing – the lack of documentation on many of the horses I work on. Often, I have had conversations with clients about what their horse looked like a month ago, a year ago, or even several years ago: Frequently, their response is simply “I don’t remember that.” Occasionally, I have had pictures to show them, but more often I have not, as only the most difficult or interesting cases warranted the time it took to take the pictures that would adequately document the horse’s needs.
With this in mind, I started to identify an important missing link in our effort to responsibly maintain the health, soundness and well being of our horses. With the time and effort required, however, the idea of successfully offering this link to the increasing number of horses needing it while keeping up with my day’s schedule of regular clients seemed impractical. The idea for Equine BaseLine was developed in an attempt to bring this service not only to my own clients, but to all interested horse owners, in a timely and effective manner.
The main goal of Equine BaseLine is to document any equine at whatever stage of development or training it happens to be in. This process involves taking standardized photographs and videos to establish a BaseLine report: By adding any x-rays, veterinary reports, dental records, or additional necessary information provided by the horse owner, the result is a comprehensive and easy to read report.
Equine BaseLine can be taken to the next level when trying to correct issues or evaluate changes. Shoeing changes can be documented via photographs and video before, during, and after shoeing. These can then be evaluated to see if the changes are effective. Likewise, this process can be used to see if a particular training program, equipment, or even exercise is enhancing the equine’s balance and movement. The horse’s performance can be effectively broken down, identifying training building blocks that need to be strengthened or improved, or reassure that the horse is progressing satisfactorily.
All Equine BaseLine reports are a great way to keep track of what is actually going on with your horse, and can prove invaluable when you move to a new barn, out of state, or simply relocate for the season. Many of my clients want me to speak to other farriers, or write something up when they prepare to move locations. Why not, instead, hand them a professionally prepared report, easily accessed on a media storage device, offering the complete picture of the horse’s history and progression.
Use Equine BaseLine to document your pre purchase or as part of your yearly Wellness Exam. Your report can be added to and updated at any time.
Please contact Equine BaseLine with any questions and for pricing information.
Thank you,
